> Velvet Hour (https://velvethour.io) is a web app for adults 18+ with 44 AI companions you can text and voice-call. They have their own personalities, jobs, cities and accents, remember your life (and ask how things went), and can call you back at a time you book. Free to start; Plus is $14.99/month.

## Key facts
- What it is: an AI companion app (AI girlfriend, AI boyfriend or AI friend) that runs in the browser on iPhone, Android and desktop. No download needed; it can be added to the home screen.
- Companions: 44 ready-made characters (22 women, 22 men), each with their own look, job, city, sense of humour and accent. You can also design your own from a photo in about 30 seconds.
- Texting: replies arrive like a real person texting, with a short read-and-type pause.
- Voice calls: real-time voice calls in the browser in 12 languages, with a natural voice and accent for each companion. You can interrupt them mid-sentence like a normal call. Short written notes after each call; calls are not recorded.
- Memory: companions remember details you share (your job, your people, plans like an interview tomorrow). They encourage you before big moments and ask how they went afterwards. Everything they remember is in a Memory Vault you can read, edit or delete.
- Call-backs: book a time and your companion calls you then (push notification). Optional check-in texts and calls if you turn them on.
- Try without an account: 5 messages on the homepage.
- Styles: Friendly, Flirty or Romantic. Never sexually explicit.
- Privacy: chats are never sold and never used to train AI. You can download or delete all your data.
- Safety: adults 18+ only. Companions always say they are AI if sincerely asked. Not therapy; anyone in crisis is pointed to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (Canada and US).
