Privacy Policy

Your Legal Name or Company Inc. operates Velvet Hour. This policy explains what we collect and why. We follow Canada's PIPEDA and aim to meet the expectations of GDPR and US state privacy laws.

What we collect

  • Account: email, the name you give companions, a hashed password, and your date of birth (to confirm you are 18+). If you sign in with Google, we receive only your name and email address from Google.
  • Conversations: your chat messages and companion replies, and short text summaries of voice calls.
  • Memories: facts companions save about you, which you can see and delete in the Memory Vault.
  • Usage and billing: message counts, call times and lengths, plan status. Card details are handled by Stripe; we never see your full card number.
  • Safety logs: when a message triggers a safety rule we keep a short excerpt so we can review it and improve safety.

We do not record or store call audio.

How we use it

To run the service (generate replies, remember context, run voice calls), keep it safe, process payments, and give you support. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use your conversations for advertising.

Who we share it with

  • OpenAI processes messages and voice audio to generate replies and transcripts. Under OpenAI's API terms, API data is not used to train their models by default.
  • Stripe processes payments.
  • Our hosting and database providers store data on our behalf.

These providers may process data outside Canada, including in the United States.

Your choices

  • Download all your data from Settings at any time.
  • Delete individual memories, a whole chat, or your entire account. Account deletion is permanent and removes your data from our database.
  • Contact us to correct information or ask questions.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is open and delete it when you delete your account, except records we must keep for legal or tax reasons (such as payment records).

Children

Velvet Hour is not for anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to a minor, we will close it and delete its data.
